Kannapolis North Carolina is located in both Cabarrus and Rowan counties.
Kannapolis is located northwest of Concord and northeast of Charlotte NC. It was incorporated in 1984.
It is the home of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, the Class A baseball affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, and also the hometown of the Earnhardt racing family. The city is also home to the North Carolina Research Campus.
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers
The Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are a minor league baseball team in the South Atlantic League and affiliate with the Chicago White Sox. They have also been known, in the past, as the Piedmont Phillies, The Piedmont Boll Weevils, and the Kannapolis Intimidators. Dale Earnhardt, also nicknamed “the Intimidator” purchased a share of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers in 2001 when they were named the Kannapolis Intimidators.
Earnhardt Racing Family
Dale Earnhardt is a well-known NASCAR racing driver who is from Kannapolis North Carolina. Other family members include Dale Earnhart Jr., Jeffrey Earnhardt, Kerry Earnhardt, Ralph Earnhardt, and Teresa Earnhardt. Ralph Dale Earnhardt Sr was a professional auto racing driver.
